Flickering lights in your commercial property

Flickering lights in your commercial property could be completely harmless. But there are also times when this could be the start of a bigger issue. So how do you determine whether your flickering lights are a problem or not? Well, there are a couple of things to consider, and these include:

  • Do your lights flicker when you turn them on? If so, this is usually harmless. It is simply the change in the electrical current that creates this flickering effect.
  • Do your lights flicker when your power is drawn somewhere else? For example, if you turn on an electrical appliance that sucks a lot of power, you could probably expect your lights to flicker a little, as the electrical current is disrupted temporarily.
  • Do your lights flicker at other times? If your lights flicker all the time, or sporadically while switched on and in use, you should get this tested by an electrician. Flickering lights are often caused by a loose connection or a fault. And this means that you could be at risk of an electrical fire, or an electric shock.

If you have any doubt about flickering lights in your commercial property, why not get them tested by the commercial electrical experts, here at Walker Electrical.
