What are the important considerations for effective warehouse lighting?

There are a number of important considerations to take into account when choosing the right lighting for your warehouse. These include:

  • The size of the warehouse
  • The outdoor space
  • Energy efficiency

The size of the warehouse

Depending on the size of the warehouse, different types of lighting can be more effective. For very tall warehouse spaces for example, high bay LED can be much more effective than other lighting types, thanks to the quality of the lighting, the longevity of the lighting and the even light distribution.

The outdoor space

If your warehouse has outdoor spaces, from a car park to a storage area, you should consider fitting security lighting. Motion sensitive security lighting is probably the best option, as this will only switch on when the motion sensors are triggered, and will then switch off when it is no longer in use. This will help save money on electricity costs, and it can even be connected to your CCTV system, recording the activity that activated the lighting.

Consider energy efficienct warehouse lighting

Because warehouse work can involve a lot of specific task based work, a good source of light is absolutely necessary. However, you don’t want to be paying over the odds for your electricity bill, and so its important to choose lighting that will be energy efficient. LED lighting is the best option for this, as it uses less electricity and the bulbs last for longer.
