Contemporary Electrical Design for any Commercial Property!

It doesn’t matter what type of building you have; each one has its own construction requirements which all need careful consideration – especially which it comes to your electrical installation.

So, what kind of electrics does a commercial building actually need? First of all, you need to determine if whether your property is commercial or not and one way to do this is to see whether 50% or more is used for commercial purposes only. The design part, will be dictated by its use as some properties are different from others, such as a hospital and a shopping centre. The uniting factors however are all the same, these include:

Voltage

You need to make sure you understand the voltage class and its requirement for your building, this is because different sizes need different types of treatment. Small commercial buildings such as residential homes will be supplied by a lower voltage under 1000 Volts, whereas bigger commercial buildings may require a medium voltage class of 20,000 Volts. Remember to research beforehand!

Logistics

Your electrical design needs to ensure that your property is usable and safe. Ask yourself the questions, how will people get to the top floor, how will they get in touch with one another? To answer these, you need to:

  • Create an effective communications system, this includes internal and external phone systems, broadband and WIFI
  • Audio-visual systems
  • Escalators, lifts and other means of getting to other places within the building

Security

Your commercial property needs to be secure at all times, especially if your business holds high value products. These security measures include: CCTV, burglar alarms and an electronic system which you have access to. Once these are all in place, any internal safety breaches will be completely diminished.
