What are the different electrical testing services for hotels?

Here at Walker Electrical, we can offer a range of different electrical testing services for hotels. These include:

  • Electrical installation Condition Reports (EICR)- this type of electrical testing used to be called fixed wire testing. This tests all of the internal wiring within a building, not the appliances themselves. This leads to accurate readings and measurements about the wiring and electrical work, and also provides further recommendations or highlights potential problems. Although this is not a legal requirement, most commercial properties will need an up to date version for insurance, safety, and liability purposes.
  • PAT testing- Portable Appliance Testing involves testing all of the portable appliances in your hotel. This includes common guest room appliances like TV’s kettles, lamps and fridges. This type of testing ensures that your electrical appliances are safe to use, and will not pose a danger to your guests. As part of the Electrical Safety Act, this is an important and legal obligation. Different appliances of different sizes and purposes will need to be tested at different rates, for example, some appliances need to be tested yearly, while others may not need to be tested again for several years. A professional electrical team like us, here at Walker Electrical, will provide more information based on the appliances you have.
  • Emergency light testing- in the event of a fire or problem emergency lighting is key to maintaining levels of calm and guiding your hotel gusts out safely. However, this will need testing and maintenance to keep it in full working order, ready for any eventuality.
