So, how can hotels save money on energy bills?

Managing a hotel presents a unique challenge, and the hotel industry has its own unique issues that you will need to navigate. From food and catering to building upkeep and management, on top of delivering top quality client experiences, there is always a lot to consider. As part of your building upkeep you are probably often looking for ways to be more energy efficient. Reducing heat loss or electricity wastage can be a great place to start. So, how can your hotel be more energy efficient? Well, there are a number of things you could consider, including:

  • Installing motion sensor lighting- this is lighting that will be activated by motion. So your stairwells and halls need to only be lit when necessary, and not permanently. This can help you save money on electricity bulls, and it means you wont be paying for electricity when you don’t need it.
  • Installing LED lighting- LED lighting uses a lot less electricity than other types of lighting, and it lasts longer too. This means you can save money on bills as well as maintenance.
  • Use timer switches and thermostatic radiator valves- this can help to control the temperature and heating in your bedrooms and hallways in a more energy efficient way, as the heating will turn off when it reaches the desired temperature in each room, rather than the whole building.
  • Insulation- make sure your property is fully insulated. In older properties the cavity wall or loft insulation may not have been installed, so make sure all the necessary insulation is in place. This will reduce your heating bill.
