Commercial exterior lighting maintenance

Commercial exterior lighting maintenance involves checking your exterior lighting fairly regularly to make sure the lights are in good working order. Wear and tear can take their toll on exterior lighting, as can the elements. So annual, or bi-annual maintenance is important to keep your property safe, and make sure everything is in good working order. This should involve:

  • Testing the lights manually, during the day, to see if they are active and working as they should. Then returning at night to repeat the test.
  • Cleaning the lights. Get rid of all the dirt and debris that will be building up on the fitting itself and especially across the light covering. Light shining through a dirty fixture is not going to be as effective as it should be.
  • Checking for corrosion on the internal gaskets and reflectors.  Moisture from the air or from rain can lead to your light fixtures being corroded, and even having structural problems.

Upgrading your commercial exterior lighting

During your maintenance checks you might find a fault with your lights. And this might mean it is time for an upgrade. You should think about installing LED exterior lighting, as this is incredibly long lasting, durable, and bright.
